In one of the interior design groups, a mother was looking for suggestions for furnishing her 10-year-old daughter's room and she also provided the parameters of the room. Creative solutions were born and I also felt inspired by the topic, because I really enjoy dressing up empty spaces!

This is my take on the project:

As the little girl is lucky to have such a nice, large and bright space, I think it's worth taking advantage of it!

Why did I decorate it this way?

Just like us, children like it when the living room and bedroom are separated, it hinders their attention to study when they always see the bed out of the corner of their eye. And the carpet forms a real boundary between the two parts of the room.

Too much storage space does not exist in my opinion, so instead of small furniture, it's worth choosing larger and more functional ones. Here I kept in mind that the furniture should be suitable even for a 15-18 year old teenager, who would want to replace those every 3 years? White furniture can be combined with any wall color at any time depending on the child's taste. The pink wall color may seem like a bold choice, but a 10 year old girl enjoys being surrounded by brighter colors. The next painting will be due in 3-5 years and by that time she definitely will choose another color, the one she wants to see on the wall.

The bed is 140x200cm. According to feng shui, we should never place a bed so that our feet face a door, this is called the "death position". Whoever experienced this layout may never wake up rested and feel defenseless, because the ghosts tickle their feet at night. :D That's why a protective shelf had to be placed between the doors and the bed, this way the little girl will have a safe, protected nook. And on the left side of the bed, a bedside table with a lovely lamp on it, next to the Hemnes chest of drawers reinforce this sense of security, but also provides plenty of space for her clothes.

I placed the desk this way because this way the little girl can see when someone enters the room through one of the doors and this is also the "master position" in the room. If I put the desk in the corner, she will never sit by the desk and she will not be able to explain why not. Of course, you still can try it. I didn't push the desk against a wall, so that she has room for her thoughts and makes the most of the natural light, and if there is an exam that requires a camera to be turned on, the background is still okay, they see a chest of drawers with a colorful picture.

Parents often think that a small desk is enough for the kids, most probably because they don't sit at a desk for 4-6-8 hours a day. It is handy if the desk can accommodate a few open books, a notebook, a glass, a plate, an A3 sheet of paper, etc. etc. When choosing a desk, we should also pay attention to, whether the chair with wheels and backrest can be moved around, without hitting our knees all the time. No, 70cm wide space is not enough for the kid’s legs!

The wardrobe was a given, I think it's a great piece of furniture, you can get ready in front of it and when placed like this, the bed is not visible in the mirror and that counts!

When the little girl's friend comes over to study or the parents come in to chat, they can sit down comfortably in the armchair. That corner can be also used as a reading corner with the trendy floor lamp.
